Cannes Lions has a particular spell. For one week in June, an entire industry – scattered across time zones, screens and Slack channels – folds itself onto a single ribbon of the Mediterranean coast.
This year, Canada arrives with momentum.
At last year’s Festival, Canada ranked fifth globally, a strong showing in one of the world’s most competitive creative arenas and a signal that the work coming out of this country is doing more than holding its own. From world-class campaigns and standout jury representation to the next generation of creative talent competing on the global stage, Canada continues to prove it belongs in the centre of the conversation.
As Canada’s Official Festival Representative for Cannes Lions for the past 21 years, The Globe and Mail will once again be on the ground in Cannes, bringing that conversation home. From June 22 – 26, follow Globe Media Group for daily coverage across Instagram and LinkedIn, including Festival dispatches, session takeaways, trend breakdowns, photo highlights and Canadian perspectives from the Croisette.
Ahead of the Festival, we kicked off the celebrations here in Canada with our annual Young Lions bootcamp, helping this year’s Canadian Gold winners prepare to compete globally in Cannes. We also brought the industry together at our Pre-Cannes Party in Toronto, raising a glass to Canada’s Cannes Lions Awarding and Shortlist jurors, Young Lions winners, industry partners, sponsors and the wider creative community helping Canada show up sharper and more ambitious each year.
See below for photos from the Pre-Cannes celebration.
This year in Cannes, our annual Canada à Cannes gathering will also take on a new shape. For the first time, the evening will begin with a panel conversation featuring Canadian leaders thinking out loud about the market, the moment and the role creativity can play in driving growth. From there, we’ll move into the celebration – bringing together Canadian delegates, jurors, Young Lions, partners and friends of the industry at Hôtel Martinez.
If you’ll be in Cannes and would like to join us for Canada à Cannes on Thursday, June 25 at 5:30 p.m., please email cannes@globeandmail.com to request an invitation.
Over the past year, much of the industry conversation has centred on AI, emotional intelligence, trust, growth and the shifting ways brands are turning creativity into impact. At Cannes, those conversations become sharper, more global and more immediate. Our goal is to help Canadian marketers and industry leaders make sense of what is happening on the world stage – and what it means for the work and talent here at home.
Later this summer, we’ll continue the conversation with interviews and reflections from Canadian jurors, Young Lions and delegates sharing what stood out from this year’s Festival. You can find that coverage and more on our Cannes Lions hub.
