Tyler Turnbull, FCB
Don’t mistake Tyler Turnbull for an intern, even if he might look the part: young, whip-smart, usually dressed in jeans and sneakers. But, in eight short years, Tyler rose from intern to CEO, and now, as FCB Global CEO, he stands as one of the agency’s most trusted transformation agents. His colleagues hail his digital expertise and capacity for planning, but he especially shines when it comes to his unique combination of strategic genius and sheer knowledge.
As Group CEO for Canada and New York, Tyler helped win the Titanium Grand Prix for Burger King’s Whopper Detour and garner new business wins like GSK, Canon, and Unibet. He revolutionized FCB’s Canadian presence, making it Cannes’ most-awarded Canadian agency for three years running. Tyler brought two agencies to the Ad Age A-List and another to be chosen as Data and Analytics Agency of the Year, while he was featured on Adweek’s Brand Stars and Marketing Magazine’s Top 30 Under 30.
He was the first executive in Canada to speak out on #MeToo in advertising and the importance of intentional inclusion and creating diverse teams of talented people. “If we recognize that everyone has unconscious bias, no matter who you are, we begin to make changes,” he says. “And those changes impact everyone — the worker, the team, the leaders, the company, the client, everyone — positively.”
